Today I managed to mow the lawn for the first time in a couple of weeks. Luckily hot weather prevented everything except some weeds from growing too much.

We took the kids and hit India Emporium and the Asian Market in KC, got various things and returned home with a sleeping Kiyan and Pari climbing the walls and refusing to nap. I swung by game day long enough to touch base with a couple people and drop off some surplus dice that I've never used.

Dinner was Cici's with the kids, simple but fun. But God, that much greasy pizza doesn't sit well in my stomach.

Preferment for the new mixer's maiden voyage is mixed and in the fridge. Part of me wants to go for the gold and see just how much to max out the dough hook, but I'll build up to it. A double batch will make about 3.25 lbs of dough, more than the KitchenAid Classic the new one is replacing (which does about 2.5 max). I'll up the amounts as I bake bread in the future because I think knowing the true capabilities of your equipment is part of baking. And it's just damned fun finding out what this sucker will do. Specs say it can do 14 cups of flour, but I'm not sure how that translates into real world numbers.

Off Metcalf at 105th Street there is a big strip mall where Kids R Us used to be (there's a Krispy Kreme in the same area), go around the ring of stores and you'll see India Emporium on the left hand side, in the back you'll see the Asian Market (may be called something different, but you get the idea), near India Emporium is the Latin-O-Market. I recommend them all.
