We took Pari to her third birthday party in three weeks. Mostly friends of ours, but the kids are all great. This party was in the home of (wait for it....) a soybean farmer, who lives out in the middle of no where. Nice little house, but damn, you go through Ottawa, into Garnett and make a right, follow the paved road with no painted lines for 15 minutes, then another five or more on gravel roads. But the kids had fun, I had 2 hotdogs and a burger, and we got home in time to bathe the kids and put them to bed eventually.|
On a culinary note, I got a new food grater since I've been playing with hash browns anyway and our grater is falling apart. I managed to remove part of my knuckle skin, my fault, but with lots of therapy and emotional support, that tiny bit of skin should regrow in a few days. But dammit that stung.
Tomorrow an indefinite number of people will be coming over for a study session and food. I suspect it will be fewer rather than more people, so I'm scaling back the volume of food formerly planned so we'll have a day or two of leftovers rather than a shit-ton of leftovers. Chili makings from the Farmer's Market were procured Saturday, and I'll be working on it tomorrow while cleaning the living room. And baking bread for bread bowls. I figured the 8 oz loaves are plenty big, no need to complicate everything.
I should get some salad for tomorrow too. I'm pretty good on main courses, but suck at side dishes.
