Thanks to everyone that filled out the poll the other day. I didn't realize that anyone was actually filling it out for a day or so because on my friend's page, it showed the blank poll because "I" hadn't taken it yet. |
The results were interesting, especially because it shows that everyone who took the poll has seen a grown man naked, but no one has been to a Turkish prison. But the real results are directing my planning towards what I'll carry at the market. I figure at least starting out with a regular supply of white, wheat and rye is a good direction to go (and they are the easiest loaves to make), and having a variety of rotating special loaves that may make it into the regular category if they sell well enough.
As my ongoing experiment with baking and to prep for tomorrow's dinner, I did up a batch of dough for pizza crust/savory flatbreads. I did Alton Brown's basic bread recipe, but did 5 oz wheat flour and 13 oz high gluten flour, plus some basil, oregano, dehydrated onion and garlic powder in the mix for a bit of flavor. Tomorrow's dinner will be interesting.
Tonight I'll scour my bread cookbooks for biscotti recipes. I have one off the internet, but I like to check a variety of sources before diving in. One person's biscotti is another person's made up recipe that's nothing like the real thing.
