Not much going on today, just a trip to Sam's Club for more massive bags of flour. I figure that since a 25 lb bag of bread flour is about $6 and a 50 lb bag of high gluten flour is about $10, bread baking is actually one of my more cost efficient hobbies. I also snagged another 2 lbs of instant yeast, since the 2 one pound packages is the same cost as half that quantity at the Merc. jensixstones was kind enough to accompany me.

I got an email back from the coordinator for the Farmer's Market, I'll be finding her Saturday assuming I can get up at the asscrack of dawn to take some pictures of vendors and veggies. I'm looking forward to doing the work, but not the early morning hours. Remind me to go to bed early on Friday.

This weeks baking projects include buns for turkey burgers sometime in the next couple of days, and the second quantity baking project where I see how easy/difficult it is to fit 8 half pound loaves on a cookie sheet. If I time it right then I can pawn the bread off on people at the costuming group meetup that evening.

Re: Guess what I have!!

No thanks, I did some sourdough experimenting earlier this year. It was fun to play with, but the long proof time annoyed the hell out of me.

Is this the sourdough that some guy named Carl used to share, and now a group carries on his tradition? That's where I got mine from. I still have a culture stashed in the freezer.
