Today we went to Emporia to celebrate with my brother in law and family that the adoption of his stepdaughter (his wife's by a previous marriage) went through. Pari got to play with her cousin Belle (6 months younger but looks older and is taller), we got to eat cookout bugers and hopefully I avoided a sunburn.

While Marz tossed frozen pizza into the oven I took the new bike trailer out with the kids. I went around Mary's Lake, which goes up some moderately steep hills. What I discovered is that with a bike trailer hauling about 100 lbs of kids, any momentum you gain going down a hill gets killed soon as it starts going uphill. Ouch.

Question for my faire friends on lj-who has gone to the St Louis faire, and would you recommend it? I have a free weekend coming up, was considering White Hart, but realized St Louis is about the same driving distance from Lawrence (or close enough for the sake of a weekend trip) and I've been planning to check it out since before White Hart opened. So,how big is it compared to KCRF (my only point of reference),and anything else you can tell me?

Well, truthfully, I wouldn't make anyone drive five hours with two tots for this faire. It does have some good things, like it is small. It is well costumed, but not a lot of lane activity like KCRF. It is still in faire infancy compaired to anything you are used to. I've only been once and with a hyper active three year old. I do plan on going this year and if you decide to come anyways, I'd give you a place to stay.
But if you come to St.Louis, I am dragging you and your family to this place
http://www.citymuseum.org/home.asp Plan to spend a day, with prep for nap time for kids. It's a McDonalds play place on steriods. and adult friendly ^_^

I'd be going alone actually, I have a solo weekend coming up since the wife went to a conference in California a month or so ago and I was home alone with the kids. I'm still deciding if I want to hit a faire or a convention. But you gave me the info I wanted to know, how it compares to KCRF. I just don't want to blow a solo weekend when I could have chosen something bigger and better to attend.

Yeah, I think you'd be disappointed if you came all this way for this faire. It's not nearly as big, but they do get the Jolly Rogers a few weekends, and I only spent a few hours there before the little one drove me nuts.So I may have missed a bunch of stuff too.
