|back home, safe but tired...

Spending the day at an anime con is an interesting experience, especially since I don't really know much anime beyond Spirited Away and a couple other Miazaki films. It's either like being in a room full of people speaking another language, or the only person in the room who doesn't get a joke. |
20 minutes in the registration line, not to bad for the crowd (over 1200 if I heard correctly), but the dork behind me was on his cell phone for that entire time, every other phrase started with "Oh my God!" I know he was talking to someone in Hawaii, he is in high school, his mom dropped him off before attending a baby shower, and he kept saying "Oh my God, this line is so long!" My favorite line was "Oh my God, a black guy in a Superman shirt just walked by!" Why this was newsworthy is beyond me.
I spent the first hour or more wandering, before I started running into folk I knew. I took some photos but not an overwhelming number, but I did have a great time with several people including queza7, and dinner with solan_t and auroraceleste. I hope to see you all at the next costumer's group meetup that I can attend.
The cosplay contest was an hour late starting, the skits sucked my will to live right out of me, but the runway show of costumes went at a good pace and most were quite impressive. My friend Becky won a prize for something (don't recall, by then my brain was jelly) as did queza7 for her lovely costume of some big eared chick with really long hair and a white dress (which tells you just how much I know about anime.)
The only thing I brought home besides my badge and the pictures, is a fleece hat. With really long bunny ears. I suspect Pari will try to steal it tomorrow.
