damned the luck... [Jan. 22nd, 2007|10:49 pm]

Today I got a copy of The Baker's Catalogue. Inside is a loaf pan I've been yearning for. Looks like this.

Much like my French loaf pans, except it allows the dough to remain flat on bottom so it doesn't roll over (which annoys the hell out of me). And it's back ordered until July. Curse the luck.

If I had metal bending equipment it would be easy to make this sort of pan, but I don't work in that sort of job. I found a couple of other pans that are similar, but quite frankly I think this one would work best. So I have about 5 months to wait and yearn for the pan. Kinda pathetic when you look at it that way, yearning for a bread pan for 5 months. I need to get a life.

A double batch of sourdough is proofing now, a simple savory loaf. First proof will be an overnight proof in the fridge, tomorrow I'll shape and bench proof two loaves. If they turn out right, one might become the first in a project I've been pondering.

With luck Kiyan is asleep, and I can go to bed myself. Pari's been talking in her sleep, which is annoying when you go to comfort a distraught child only to discover they are still asleep. I think the change in routine from over the holiday to going back to school has thrown her off a little bit.

I understand kitchenware lust. I am a Calphalon fiend, and I love my cobalt Fiestaware to the point of obsession. :) Those baking pans are neat-o! I am not as big on baking as on cooking, but I can totally understand the yearning. :)
