I ate a hot dog, bbq beef, and chips while my dad followed a free range Kiyan around the courtyard of the college during a more sparsely populated family picnic day this year. It was fun but I left earlier with Kiyan, not feeling the best (allergies I think). I did run into two coworkers from J&M where I worked back in 2002 before being laid off (twice). They are sisters, one is still there the other left. One just had a baby, the other is expecting. Both introduced me to their husbands. We said goodbye, and I may see them at next year's picnic. Funny how people change after 4 years.

My next project that can probably get done in a day is a set of shelves for the kitchen, which will include space for the coffee maker, microwave, a toaster oven, and canned goods at least. There may be other criteria later. It will fit into a nook at th end of the counter by the stairs, so there will be a little creative cutting involved to make it flush with the walls, and I'll ancor it in a couple places so the kids don't pull it down. I'll take measurements, draw up plans and see how much of the wood I have on hand. I suspect I may have up to 80% of the needed materials, so the job may go pretty quick and cheap for me. Will post pics when it's done.
