I have successfully done my first bias tape trim, this one being around the neck of Marz's bodice. Tonight I'll measure the boning channels and cut the lengths from the roll I have, possibly grind and dip them tonight time permitting, tomorrow if not. After that it's just a matter of grommets and tweeking the fit. The armholes are my only real concern, but if they are the only problem I can fix it easily enough. After minor modifications to the pattern, the next one I make for her will be a breeze.

I have also figured out most of how to do Pari's matching dress, which will actually be pretty easy.

Oh!

what kind of boning do you have, and would you be willing to sell/trade some?

Re: Oh!

I have 1/2" spring steel boning in a roll, so I have to cut it to length, round the ends on the grinder, then coat them with tool dip so they don't eventually rust. If you need some to finish a project I may be able to help, but with the possibility of making a new bodice for Marz in the near future I will have to calculate how much I'm likely to need.

It's more labor intensive, but much cheaper and faster than ordering boning by the piece.

Re: Oh!

Well, I have a grinder and can get tool dip. Work out a price for enough for a bodice or two for me and let me know, I'd be happy to help you go bulk.

Re: Oh!

I'm ordering it from here.

It would probably be easier for you to order a roll yourself than figuring out how to split up a roll.

Re: Oh!

wow, that's really do-able, even for the pre-cut stays.

Thank you so much for the supplier.
What size do you like to use?
I probably ought to pay more attention to your blogs on making these things.

Re: Oh!

I get 1/2" boning as a default size. Better to overbone than underbone, and I'd rather only carry one size of boning.

And I'm really just starting to make some decent stuff. Next project after a bodice for Marz will be an underbust corset based on a pattern I found online.
