An afternoon nap and tea after 8 doesn't help me sleep. |
After a morning run to the farmer's market (we shared a polish sausage, brownies, and 2 halfmoon pasteries between us) we ran to Target and got a car seat for Pari that goes into the Escort. It will cost us less in gas to use that for the KC runs with the kids in the future, and be easier to park. The bad part is Pari can kick the back of my seat even harder when she's in a smaller car.
I have ideas for a new faire jerkin, which I'll try out sometime soon. Maybe make it from some of the plain blue fabric I've had around, and I might as well do some ribbon work on it for the experience. i'm still in search for the perfect outer garment for faire, a fairly simple pattern that is both comfortable, easy to embellish, and fairly quick to make. We'll see how Side Lace Jerkin 1.0 turns out when I'm done with the pattern. Gruselag Jerkin 1.0 was ok, but I don't like some of the things about it. One goal of the new jerkin is to make an unlined garment so it's lighter weight and can be worn in mild but not hot weather. Amazing how even a simple lining of thin cotton adds so much warmth to a garment.
I'm hoping my faire boots still fit, I don't want to blow another $250-300 on a pair. This pair was supposed to last me for the next 10 years considering I only use them a few days a year. Dammit.
Since I can't sleep, might as well work on the jerkin pattern.
