I'm in the local news again, after giving a brief interview on the phone as a former winner in open class at the county fair. She got all the info right, which is nice, although seeing several of my standard phrases about how I started baking being quoted is a strange feeling. |
As the article says, I'm probably not entering this year because I don't have a flavor calling to me, and vanity doesn't demand that I defend the title. The Bob flavored bagels were a reserve champion winner in 2010 (thanks to apocalypticbob for that flavor combo, rosemary onion) and the basil & chives won champion in 2011 (thanks to bellanorth if i remember right for that flavor combo). Once I rang the bell with a purple ribbon, I didn't feel the need to do it again immediately.
Lots to do today, including reservations for my night at Crypticon (not dedicating a whole weekend to it, but stuff is going on late Saturday and I'm not driving an hour home at 2am), scheduling the attic insulation and calling around about window bids to see how much to get them all done at once. Got one recommendation from a friend, need to see if I can find that post with other people's recommendations.
