Today my FIL swung by, the first time my kids have seen him in a long time. We chatted and ate at a Chinese buffet. I showed off my garden, of course. |
While the kids played out back I took the weed eater and reclaimed the patio from weeds growing up through the cracks. Once again the squash bugs are taking out my summer squash plants in the herb bed, we'll see if they survive in the garden bed. It just is not my year for squash, next year I'll be hyper vigilant with pest control and see if I can do better. I'm hoping the pumpkins and gourds do well, and I'll see if the companion planting does any good (a plant called tandy is said to repel squash bugs). Cucumber vines are all over the place, we'll see how they start producing shortly.
On the zombie front, a companion event to precede the Lawrence Zombie Walk is being planned, I'll wait until details are finalized before announcing anything. I should also plan an after party for volunteers.
