Yesterday I came home from the farmers market at Cottin's Hardware with a huge bag of corn. Marz didn't think it was quite sweet enough for corn on the cob (she's pickier than I am) so I'm looking up various recipes for cornbread with fresh corn. Shortly we hit the store for cornmeal and buttermilk, among other items.

Poblano pepper, cheddar cheese and corn cakes...

Served with grilled pork and apples.

By "not quite sweet enough," I mean it tasted like starch on a stick, and it made me wonder just how long it had been sitting out before they sold it to you. There was not an ounce of flavor in that corn.
