We are having Kiyan's clinicians and their supervisor over for a meeting, and decided to make it a backyard grill meetup. So we got hotdogs and condiments, and I took the weed eater to the patio to clear the growth from between the cracks. After picking up most of the yard toys and cleaning up/changing water in the kids wading pool, the back yard is looking pretty good and fit for company.

The garden is not enjoying the heat, but surviving. My yellow crookneck squash seems to be producing mini squash, don't know if it's a pollination problem or just the variety. Zucchini is doning fine so no major loss, and I have other varieties planted already. Next year I'm seriously considering setting up an automatic watering system on a timer with buried soaker hoses and weed tarp.

Kiyan apparently thought that a tablespoon of peanut butter in his mouth would be a good idea. It was not, but was very funny to see when he walked in from the kitchen with a look of distress on his face.

If you do the soaker hoses or a drip system, the perfect weed barrier is brown craft paper from the HW store. Super cheap and you just dig it into the ground and let it decompose come fall. (obviously after removing the water system in the fall :) )
