post Naka-Kon wrapup... [Feb. 12th, 2012|07:03 pm]

In brief-
Friday-pulled into the hotel parking lot around 3:30pm, was flagged down by a friend who told me I was on a panel at 4pm because someone had dropped out (Con Etiquette, essentially Con 101 for newbies). Found a parking spot, walked past the incredibly long line for hotel check in and got my badge at the short check in line. Did the panel and a lap around the dealer's room, then walked past the incredibly long line for badges and made my way through the much shorter line to check in at the hotel. A couple panels and some chinese takeout, and time with friends completed the day.

Saturday-woke early and was up and showered by 6:30am. Swung by con ops, got a donut and hooked up with a friend for hangout until the rest of humanity was awake and moving. More hangout, then did cosplay green room work 2pm-10pm. There was a quest for pizza afterwards, after multiple attempts to order delivery I broke down and drove to pick it up. Even got my good parking spot back afterwards. Ate one more slice than I should have, woke up several times during the night.

Sunday-hung out with friends, packed up everything, claimed my free tshirt and badge money for volunteering, then headed back to Lawrence for stuff with the kids. Was planning to attend the dead dog party, but no food all day combined with lack of sleep made me stupid tired. Add to that a forecast of possible nasty roads tonight and I just opted out of the party, much to my regret.

Now I'm planning a good night's sleep before dealing with a busy day tomorrow. In addition to an IEP meeting for one of the kids, we get to replace the living room tv that died over the weekend. On the plus side, it looks like we'll be upgrading the tv size for a reasonable price, although finding inputs for the existing peripherals is going to be annoying.
