|almost done with the outside fun...

After lunch I joined the kids out back for some pool and sprinkler time. I got many weeds pulled from the garden, mostly dandelions and some large grass clumps. I'm going to get some 1mm clear plastic to put over various areas for "sun sterilization", which takes about 4-6 weeks during hot weather to kill off most of the grass and weeds. I'm going to focus on half the hoop house bed, which has a bunch of annoying grass that keeps popping up. I'm wondering if I can do the treatment over the winter on various beds so there is a cleaner slate when it's time to plant. I also made a round of the house and weeded most of the mulch around the foundation. |
Costume group was interesting. There was a matter of importance that was addressed regarding conflict within the group, and it was resolved to the satisfaction of everyone remaining in the group. I suspect that this will lead to an increase of membership especially after the Maker's Faire this weekend (which I'll be working after making the rounds with my family).
I was planning to go inside around 2pm, but it's 80 degrees out with a nice breeze, and I'm lounging in my hammock in the shade. The main reason I need to get them inside is because on Wednesdays we have play meetups in the park, and I don't want the kids to get too much sun even with sunscreen.
