Every year we get the kids an inflatable pool, and it lasts for the summer and then usually gets tossed due to a hole. This year we got them a round one, 80 inch diameter and 22 inches high. Big enough to play in, small enough to drain and put away when it's time. And the best investment I ever made was about 4 years ago, an electric pump to inflate these things.

While the kids played in the water I got a bunch of scrub trees poking through the back fence cut down and stuffed into 2 trashcans for city recycling, and they may be part of the compost I buy from them next year for $10/truckload. I was partially clearing out space for where the giant pumpkins will be growing in the back corner. There are still random bricks and such to be removed, but I do refer to it as the "i don't care" corner for a reason.

The tomatoes are starting to bloom, I have the first yellow squash forming on the plants, and my walking onions are forming topsets. I also need to get both the tomato and vine trellises set up this week or they are going to grow into the rows.
