pondering the future of cowprints... [May. 30th, 2011|08:25 pm]

Since basingstoke was kind enough to name the cowveralls, I'm pondering just how many more garments I can make before the gag has truely run it's course. The cowmono, samurai moo, then cowveralls. I have vague plans for a cow kilt and maybe a cow victorian suit, after that I think that the cowprint may be permanently retired and I'll just reuse the costumes occasionally.

Since the cowveralls proved that the overalls pattern works, it's time to plan the steampunk outfit. Either this week or at next weeks costume group I'll get some khaki twill for the patch pockets, some snaps for the side closures (yes I hate sewing buttons so much I'll install snaps)  and figure out if I want the gaiters to match the pockets (probably will, no need to get different fabric for gaiters). My plan to use clip on suspenders rather than sewing on straps proved good on the cowveralls, so I have brown ones for the steampunk outfit.

I got a leather hat at the convention this weekend for the costume, I need a hat stretcher to size it properly. After that are the gauntlets and fingerless gloves for the costume, all either wishlisted or ebay watched so I can find it later. There is also a grommet machine in our future, which will be useful for both garment making and for decorative purposes.
