newsboy hat... [May. 27th, 2011|11:22 pm]

I decided to play around with the idea of a newsboy hat. it's a big floppy hat with a bill, actually an easy pattern. My first attempt turned out very wrong due to a miscalculation, so it was 8 inches too big. The second attempt was much better, although still a touch big but that could be fixed with elastic or a safety pin. I don't know if I'll bother trying to make another, but it was an interesting experiment. I may just not be enough of a hat person to worry about it. What is really cool is that I got all the info and the pattern by typing "newsboy hat pattern" into Google.

I got the overalls adjusted by adding a few inches to the bib, perhaps a little too much but it's not worth reducing it an inch for the maybe once that I wear it. The hems are a touch long but the overall fit is perfect. I'll work on the steampunk overalls after this weekend, which will be busy.
