garden progress... [Apr. 16th, 2011|02:14 pm]

After walking in the Earth Day Parade with Pari for her 4H group, we hit Pickleman's downtown for lunch and headed home. In the mail came 60 walking onion sets, not quite as grown as the other batch I got but that is more than fine with me. All went into the ground, making 80+ in the ground to make my perpetual onion patch. The first group is sending up new green shoots to replace the old ones that are drooping off after the transplant, to be expected but it's nice to see the new shoot. Last year i put in a bunch of bulbs, only to have 3 days of constant rain rot them all in the ground. Two appear to have survived and started growing this year, adding the other 80 is so that I don't spend several years expanding the bed from what those two survivors produce.
