|I think that's enough outside work for today...

I got a bunch of branches cut up and contained for Monday pickup, and have raked a bunch of leaves into bags for the same fate. There are plenty more leaves to dispose of, but I'm working my way around the drive and sorting as I go. There are a few things that need to be disposed of at Hazardous Household Waste, so I'll schedule that for next week. Monday I'm getting an estimate on a new AC so we can decide if we want to do that this year or not. |
I still need to work on the rabbit fence but haven't done anything yet. I want to run the trimmer around the beds and do the first mowing of the year before putting up the fence, then piling compost and mulch around it so the rabbits can't find the bottom easily to dig under. Weather continuing to be this nice I'll do the trim and mow tomorrow, followed by the fence.
Dad had a good point that the wood mulch from the city was kinda coarse, and the trouble and cost of renting a wood chipper to make it more fine wasn't worth the expense compared to getting the mulch or woodchips we want elsewhere. So we skipped the city wood mulch this year (not the compost, got plenty of that) and will buy the stuff we want. So far everyone appears to carry mulch and not wood chips. Far as I can tell the difference is that chips would probably last a bit longer.
I'm hoping for a brief visit with friends downtown before the kids school carnival. We'll see how that plays out.
