directional fabric sucks... [Mar. 3rd, 2011|03:05 pm]

The tiger stripe camo has a horizontal direction to the pattern, which I have to take into account when doing pattern layout. A kimono is mostly rectangles but I want to get the most out of the yardage. I think I've figured out the general layout, and I"m experimenting with making the underarm gussets separate so even less yardage is wasted. solan_t and auroraceleste approved the green for my trim and hakama, which i wanted double-checked before committing.

So I have the measurements and general layout done, and maybe even do a second if I really pushed the yardage. Next challenge is to modify the hakama pattern so they taper for putting into boots, which technically gives them another name but I don't feel like looking it up right now.
