We went to Mom and Dad's place a bit after 8:30am (were running late, kids don't like getting up until you combine the words "grandparents" and "presents"), where waffles and blintzes were consumed and gifts were exchanged. We gave Sister a rag quilt, she gave me a resin pyramid from their recent trip to Egypt. In honor of an old tradition of me wrapping gifts in airline barf bags, she gave me the pyramid on a cruise ship barf bag. The kids got some clothing and toys, and we had a nice time hanging out while they finished cooking for the extended family gathering.|
Then we went to my aunt's place in KC for the noon time Christmas Day gathering, which included a handful of extended family and a decent amount of food. The kids enjoyed rampaging and eating, and a big dog that loved attention. Several hours later we went back home so kids could play with various toys and I could start catching up on some cleaning.
Dinner was Chinese Buffet (Peking Taste, rarely go there but it's OK). At the moment the kids are watching Muppet Christmas Carol downstairs, I'm looking at another load of dishes and some counter space that needs to be reclaimed.
So it's been an enjoyable Christmas with family, and I'm looking forward to some projects in the new year. This includes but is not limited to working on quilts, possibly trying the 50 Book Challenge again, maybe doing some other challenges with movies, and learning how to sew some hats from fleece and recycled tshirts for possibly selling at the Bizarre Bazaar next year.
