Laundry basket dresser... [Nov. 26th, 2010|12:25 pm]

Several years ago I considered ways to make dressers using laundry baskets. Marz thought it was a silly idea. We got modular shelf and drawer bins from Target for the kids room, and in recent months their climbing has destroyed one shelf and several of the fabric bins. Suddenly the idea of a laundry basket dresser seems more reasonable.

After mentioning this on facebook, a friend sent this link. I think it will be perfect for our room once we've gotten rid of our current dressers, and a version of this will work for the kids closet. The laundry baskets are even the same ones that we use. The kids closet is 24" deep, I'm thinking that three shelves would work well. And after reading the article, I realized that all I need to do is screw some 2"x2"s onto the walls, which I think are easier (and probably cheaper) than metal brackets.

I'm doing something similar with the laundry downstairs anyway, so I may make one for the laundry area before making one for the bedroom. But now I have a plan, which is more than I had an hour ago.
