pirate coat progress... [Oct. 27th, 2010|01:36 pm]

I got almost all the pieces of Pari's pirate coat cut out. It sure eats up yardage.  Still have to cut out the black twill for the cuff and facing, possibly the faux pocket flaps if I care enough at that point. It'll be simplified this time around, but I can always add trim and such later. Doing a full size adult one will be interesting but really eat up the yardage, especially on a directional fabric.

One interesting thing I've seen recently is that suit and coat patterns appear to have two seams on the sleeves I don't know if this is because of the grain, the shape of the sleeves, to strengthen the seam under the arm, or what. I suspect I could fudge it for costume wear but should find out the why before changing anything.

I also need to remember to hem the pants on my own Halloween costume to be used on both Saturday and Sunday.
