nine pieces of a pirate coat... [Oct. 23rd, 2010|06:33 pm]

So before the kids got underfoot, I was looking through the pieces of the pirate coats I'll be making tonight/tomorrow. I'm thinking that I'll make Pari's first, since Kiyan has his store purchased one to fall back on if there are issues. They also start about 2 sizes larger than him, so why fight it.

I don't think that it'll be horribly complicated to sew, and I suspect that I'll simplify the pattern if I make more than one. Making this one will definitely help for when I sew the adult size one for myself (at some point, other projects come first). I also like the fact that the store purchased one has the shirt as a front that is sewn into the jacket and may make something like that in the future for the kids.

I can say that this is not a pattern that I can simplify like the pirate shirt pattern. The sleeves are more fitted, and the jacket has more than just a boxy drape to it.

Another project to finish is to put the backing on the quilt I made months ago. I may actually shrink it down to a more reasonable size, since it could cover a family of four with room to spare.
