Here's the updated pirate shirt. I started with a basic tshirt pattern (Kwik Sew Sewing for Children), turned the front into a yoke for a keyhole neck (need to lower it an inch, bobblehead kid can barely fit through), added a collar, widened the sleeves by 6 inches for some pleating, and added elastic to the cuffs. Marz thinks it could look more girly, I say it's able to go through both kids if it's boyish.

Next is one for Kiyan, then I'll tackle pants and skirt for their Halloween costumes.

You could always do a quick gathered ruffle to tack on at each wrist/ around the neck that could then be taken off for Kiyan. I think it looks good, but I do see what she means about being boyish, since it's essentially the same pattern I used for Devon.

That's what I was thinking, I'll spruce it up after I get the rest of the outfit done. I'm partially dreading the pirate coat making since I've never done it before, but I think it'll come together since I'm doing the Jack Sparrow style which is one of the easier types. I also tend to modify my patterns so they are easily assembled, since I have to do at least one new one every year.
