more debt torpedoed... [Jul. 7th, 2010|02:47 pm]

All the credit cards are officially paid off, and a whole bunch towards the car is paid too. Things are still in the system and not everything will be posted for a day or two, but everything is sent in or paid online, so at the moment bills are not an issue. And with the refinance we don't pay any mortgage until August.

The VW should be back from the shop today or tomorrow. I'm pondering a zoo trip tomorrow, weather permitting. Friday we may try swimming again, hopefully without some kids messing in the pool again. Friday will also be the last day for speech camp, so I get to prompt Pari to sew a whole bunch of her 4H projects for the county fair (and need to experiment with my rye bread recipe, haven't made it in ages).

I think some vine borers have gotten to my squash, I may soon be squashless in the garden. It may be too late to save them, but I'll know to treat them early next year. Cucumbers are doing well, the early producers are the English/burpless/whatever you call them. Armenian are just starting to produce fruit, and nothing except for one lone lemon cucumber. The walking stick kale is doing much better since the initial bug spraying, without slugs and critters eating the leaves they are starting to grow taller.

The other day I cleared out one of my strawberry beds and after adding a whole bunch of compost I planted my walking onions. We'll see how well they grow in the next couple weeks.

Congratulations! Having the credit cards fully paid off, and a big chunk of the car, no doubt feels like a huge burden just rolled off your shoulders. I am glad that your refinance project helped you out and didn't just reconfigure your debt.
