Lack of a card reader (it's probably under the couch) means you get to wait a little longer before seeing smoked pork tenderloin and today's harvest of three 8 ball squash (one was pretty big, green camouflages well among the leaves. Next time, round yellow squash). |
I have a batch of the sesame rings on the rise, although I did add some onion, basil and garlic to them. For some reason the old dough bread wasn't wanting to rise, and the smell wasn't right for the yeast to be working (yes, I smell my dough to figure out what the yeast is doing). So I chucked the old dough project because I find myself easier to move onto another project when there are several lined up (in this case, sesame rings).
Kiyan had a trip to the dentist today. He bit the dentist once, and squirmed the whole time. Two cavities, which he'll have to be put under for them to fill (and they'll do xrays at the same time while he's actually still). Guess he inherited my mouth in more than one way.
Dad and I agree that the squash crop isn't growing large at the moment because the constant rain has probably kept the pollinating bugs under shelter for the last week. Here's hoping that I'm buried in summer squash soon. My cucumbers are really starting to climb. Next year I'll do them a little different to control where they grow. Tomato plants are growing all over the place and trying to overshadow my peppers, but I have two nearly done sweet banana peppers to harvest in the near future (no clue what color they turn when ripe, if it's light green they are ready now).
