drpaisley, it's not a farm that raises children, it's for children to visit). We got to feed goats (and watch people try to leave double gates open so tiny goats could escape, those are double gates for a reason folks) and feed the fish in the fishing lake. That part was the most entertaining, because the fish come up out of nowhere and swarm for the food, but you have ducks and geese on the surface going after the food too. So you toss the pellets near an avian and see if the aquatics get it first. We went to Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead (no |
One of Kiyan's clinicians came with us, which made going around with the kids easier. And the funniest part was seeing our old friend Joe from Sunflower House (student coop in Lawrence). Last time I saw him he looked like a deadhead, now he's all clean cut with a wife and 2 kids.
Now we are home resting up. Kiyan is melting down to prep for an afternoon nap, and I harvested my second fist sized 8 ball summer squash. Tomato and pepper plants are starting to blossom (one has some tomatoes already forming). Damned rabbits ate every last sunflower I planted, I may have to see about getting more free seeds from the fairground extension office and planting them in buckets this time, or at least elevate the container i put them in.
