Instant yeast.

Most of the yeast you find in grocery stores is active dry yeast, and I want to find instant yeast. Does anyone know of a place in Lawrence or KC that would carry instant yeast? And no, the Community Mercantile doesn't carry it. They may be able to order it, and I'll find that out if I can't find it anywhere else. I suppose that if all else fails, there is always the internet.

Have you tried the big Hy-Vee on 6th st? They've got all sorts of interesting stuff there.
But if I remember correctly, active yeast doesn't keep well, which is why it's so hard to find. You have to keep it refrigerated, I think.

I hope you and Marz and Pari are coming to potluck tonight. I've got a huge crockpot full of very spicy Thai beef curry cookin. Don't want it to go to waste!

I'll check a place or two here in KC that might have it and let you know what I discover.

I dunno, you might try Bacchus and Barlycorn in KC. The have liquid yeast cultures for brewing, and might be able to help you out...
