Snow. Again. [Jan. 6th, 2010|01:38 pm]
Verminius Rex
Yep, more of the fluffy white stuff is coming down. Luckily Wednesdays are early release for Pari, so I just got back home with her before the roads got bad. We are tucked in for now (despite Pari constantly asking to play outside in the snow), and I have enough food for days, although the snow is supposed to let up after we get a couple inches accumulation. I doubt at this point that there will be any closings tomorrow, but I'm ready for the long haul.

And I was able to get the new Steven Brust book, "Iorich", at Borders. The novels tend to be short, and I'll be done with it by tonight or tomorrow, but nothing beats a new book during snowbound incarceration.

I think spaghetti and meatballs for tonight, and beef stew in the crockpot tomorrow. The leftovers will carry us for days. Chili if there is any ground meat left over that needs to be used.

I'm reading a lot of us are crockpot cooking today. I've got beef/vegetable/quinoa soup in. I fully expect no school here on the Missouri side for the rest of the week because of the temps combined with the snow.

Thanks for the bread site. I hope to try some of the recipes out soon.

I suspect that the streets will be clear enough by tomorrow for Pari to go to school.

And if I haven't pointed you there before, thefreshloaf.com always has good bread stuff to peruse. I don't look as often anymore because I've found my own style of baking that I generally stick with, but it's always good for reference and definitely good for new ideas.
