Today's chili is a bit of a mishmash experiment, in addition to the ground turkey and usual spices I used refried beans since I pulverize mine in the food processor anyway. If I end up using them on a regular basis it would save me the trouble of zapping the beans. I also tossed in some canned chili that was past it's best by date that I had no plans to use anytime soon (ironic, adding canned chili to chili, but it works). The bean ratio may be a bit more than I usually do, if I don't like it I can always brown up more meat and add it later.

Two batches of preferment are on the bubble for baking later tonight. I was in the mood for pizza but we have enough soup and such in the fridge (in addition to my chili) that we need to eat and make room. Roads are starting to get annoying according to what the news says, so I don't think I'll be going out anytime soon. Pari seems happy watching original episodes of Star Trek at the moment, Kiyan is ambling around with legos in his hands. I think it's a day to stay in.

And I just noticed that Kirk's yeoman has a skirt short enough for an indecency citation in most communities. I must admit, for most of the crew it looks pretty comfortable, pants and a long sleeved silly tshirt with disco boots.

Actually, that Yeoman is wearing pants.

A "skort", in fact. The micro-skirt version of the uniform was designed by the female cast members. Gene Roddenberry wanted all of the crew to wear the same uniform, but the ladies protested and demanded microskirts.

Nichelle Nichols will tell you that she sat in that chair quietly hiking hers up about as far as she could get it.

It was *fashionable* at the time.

This kind of thing happened in Star Trek a lot; Lursa and Betor in ST:TNG had all that awesome cleavage because the actresses who played them demanded it. The plan had been to put all Klingons in the same kind of uniforms... and yet the ladies demanded something that showed off their assets. *smirk*

Oh, and that shirt is a raglan sleeved velour shirt, not really a t-shirt.
