The onion chopper did a great job on the candied ginger, but my attempt to use it with sun dried tomatoes resembles roadkill on a subway grate. I'm soaking it for cleanup, later tonight I'll try the craisins and raisins on it to see if it works for that. The skin of the sun dried tomato prevented it from going through, so it's still the knife for those. Not all of my prep work is made simpler, but much of it is.

Saturday is listed as partly cloudy, so it's a full complement of bagels this week, about 15 dozen. I'll also give the lime basil bagels a try and as I've done before give some to my regulars for taste testing.

I bet it would work if they are frozen before you chop.

Freeze some up, chop them, and then store the chopped ones in the fridge to defrost before using them in the bagels.

It's really more trouble than it's worth. I'm able to stack up 3-4 dried tomato pieces and cut them all at once, so it's faster than the ginger. I'm thinking that I'll still have to do the raisins, craisins and blueberries with a knife until I find something that works better. A food processor would work, but more cleanup than I care to do for 1.5 oz.

Lime basil sounds interesting, and seems to be all the rage this season in cooking mags. How did you arrive at this combination?
