The weather continues to act like siblings fighting over the thermostat. Snow covers the ground, and in a couple days the high is projected to be in the 70s.

I think that I've discovered hot to make good stirfry, finally. I had a habit of overcooking meat and veggies, the trick appears to be tossing the sliced meet into the wok and browning for only a minute or so until the outside is cooked, then setting it aside in a bowl while the veggies are cooked for about a minutes. Put the meat back in, along with soysauce and oyster sauce, cook for one more minute, and everything is cooked but no over cooked. Simple and filling, plus looks pretty.

Somehow I missed the entire container of rye flour when I was wanting to try out rye bagels last week. Apparently I was looking for a half gallon container when it was the full gallon container marked "rye" sitting next to all my other flour. Might work in a batch tomorrow.

I'm fighting off a sinus infection, and trying to figure out if I should call in for some antibiotics or not. We'll see how I am tomorrow, I'd rather avoid meds if I don't have to take them.

Our doctor quit giving antibiotics for sinus infections, using studies that say people do not get over them faster with them than those without as his reasoning.

I ended up battling mine for 1 month without them.

Have you tried essential oils in hot water for steaming?
I put a couple in my comment below to Harold.

I agree with the antibiotic thing. Sometimes you can knock things out with simple remedies, or at least make yourself more comfortable while your body fights them.

Yup, didn't do a damn thing but burn.

My doc claims that the essential oils thing is crap, and said that just saline water is enough. He recommended what I was already doing with that, or a neti pot.

Netti pots kind of creep me out. O__O It's like drowning on purpose.

Burn??!! did you put it IN your nose? Oh no, honey, inhale the steam only, like a vicks vaporizer.

Yah, some doctors don't agree with anything that is outside of their own training, but I've had excellent results with using them, friends using them, as well as other "folk remedies". I suppose the neti pot could be considered a "folk remedy" so at least he's open to that alternative.
FWIW... my doc and his staff swear by some of the less harmful alternatives. I suppose it's a matter of opinion.

Natural antibiotics that work well for steaming sinuses include eucalyptus and cinnamon oils. Give it a few tries about every few hours, just hold a mug of almost boiling water with a few drops of the oil in it under your nose and breathe. If it hasn't taken hold, that might be enough to kick it back out.

I've tried the Apple Cider Vinegar cure that Adam posted about a couple weeks ago and it cleared my head right up immediately. No joke. Now it didn't take the symptoms away instantly but several cups of tea with vinegar and honey in it and I swear it was over in a day or two.

That and sniffing Thieves Oil; really, really.

Thieves Oil, eh? Huh, two of the ingredients are the same things I learned to use, cinnamon and eucalyptus.

Yeah, it's nifty stuff (with a really interesting history!) put together and sent to me by my dear friend zianuray. It smells really good and it really works to clear my head. I dab some on my pillowcase to sniff while I'm sleeping if I'm congested.
