Yes, my bagels are just that good. [Aug. 30th, 2008|11:16 am]

I sold out today. At 10:10am. Market closes at 11am, and I made the usual 11 dozen bagels. This is a new record for me on sellout time. And people were still looking for my booth after I got it packed up early.

The lemon ginger bagels were pretty much a lemon bagel, and didn't go on sale today. I gave some to various people for opinions, it got an overall good review for the lemon flavor and to up the ginger until it can be tasted. Hoping to get them out next week.

Overall a very good day, although I am exhausted due to the usual late night and early morning for market.

Pari is fishing with my dad this morning, she'll be returned to us eventually.

Did you put the ginger in, or did you sprinkle crystalized ginger on top?

Powdered ginger in the dough for a first attempt, a rather small amount. It's a work in progress.

Also, that is awesome that you sold out so fast. I'm actually sitting here right now, eating a Bacon Cheddar bagel. :D

The bagel made me want lemon ginger scones so I looked up some recipes. Most of them use crystalized ginger (1/4 cup in a 2 cups of flour recipe) but a few use grated ginger root (1T in a 2C flour recipe).

I'm going to have to see how it works with powdered ginger, crystalized ginger and fresh grated ginger to see what works best. Part of it is also cost, I'll have to do an analysis of the investment for each ingredient in the recipe.

I know it would be kind of a pain to have bagels that were different prices, but if they cost more, people might be willing to pay the difference.

The lemon did taste very good.

I took part of your bagel and put some crystallized ginger on top of it. It was perfect! That would be a great way to get the ginger taste in with the lemon.

I also agree with sherwood21, for the bagels that have ingrediants that cost more, raise the price of the bagel.

I will poke Tom about the lemon bagel, as he was the one to eat it.
